SSH from a phone
For settings, backups and log downloads, Carrot Web in your phone browser is simplest. Use a key-based SSH client for diagnostics that need SSH.
Host fields
| Field | Value |
|---|---|
| Name | A label for your device |
| Address | Current comma-device IP |
| Port | 22 |
| User | comma |
| Authentication | Private key matching the public key registered on GitHub |
Clients such as Termius can be used, but menu labels and paid features vary by version. Check whether the web terminal is sufficient before installing another app.
Connect
- Put phone and device on the same network.
- Finish public-key registration.
- Import your private key into the client's key store.
- Select that key for the host's key authentication.
- Verify the device host key and connect.
Select the private key, not .pub. Do not transfer it through public chats/shared documents, or use someone else's shared private key as your management key.
When the IP changes
Read the current IP on the device or in network information and update the host. Distinguish a timeout from a key-authentication failure.
Terminal commands apply directly to the device. Identify the branch, commit and symptom before running unfamiliar commands.
