Getting started with CarrotPilot
From vehicle connections to settings and log analysis: understand the reasons behind the way carrot-wip works.
October 2026 edition. This guide is based on the revised Korean GitBook and the matching source documentation. The original CarrotPilot site remains available.

What changed in this guide
- Installation: the current README URL is
i.carrotpilot.app/carrot-wip, replacing old tr16-e examples. - Settings interface: use Carrot Web at
http://DEVICE-IP:7000. CarrotMan and CarrotLink are not currently supported. - Actual behavior: cruise buttons, following gap, deceleration sources and radar modes are explained separately.
- Meaning of values: current values, defaults, multipliers and activation conditions are distinguished.
- Diagnostics: screen recordings, driving logs, updates, backups and support requests are connected in one workflow.
What is CarrotPilot?
An independent driver-assistance software distribution based on openpilot, developed primarily for Hyundai, Kia and Genesis (HKG). It is not a distribution officially reviewed, approved or supported by comma.ai. Supported devices include C3, C3X and C4; available functions depend on the exact vehicle, model year, ECU and harness.
carrot-wip is a rolling development branch. Behavior can change with updates; treat it accordingly. Matching hardware matters more than matching a vehicle name alone.
Common questions
| What you want to understand | Read |
|---|---|
| Why does a button change the speed so much? | Buttons and presets |
| How do I adjust following distance and pulling away? | Cruise and following gap |
| Why does it slow down for a curve or camera? | Speed and deceleration |
| What controls lane-change delay and steering feel? | Steering and lane changes |
| Why is a radar point not treated as the lead vehicle? | Radar tracks |
| How do I choose an eGPU / Jetson model? | Carrot Web |
| What should I check for driver-monitoring warnings? | Driver monitoring |
Three things to remember
- The driver must supervise continuously. Watch the road and surroundings and remain ready to take over. Operate web settings and logs only when parked.
- Save your device's current values first. Do not copy another vehicle's tuning or an old pinout unchanged.
- Separate confirmed behavior from experiments. A feature being present in code does not mean it has been validated on every vehicle.
